Very rare enamel patch box with pink base, the white-ground lid with transfer print of King George III being threatened with a knife held by a female onlooker.  Below it is written; 'M Nicholson attempts to assassinate the King'.  Bilston C1786.  Original internal mirror.

NB:On August 2, 1786 Stockton born Margaret Nicholson attempted to assassinate King George III with an ivory-handled dessert knife.
