Very unusual octagonal etui, the white enamel ground with bianco-sopra-bianco decoration. The vignettes are hand-painted with neo-classical depictions front and back and floral sprigs on the side, all surrounded with A-symmetrical raised gilded borders. The lid has a picture of a lady in yellow dress sitting at her desk writing by candlelight. The copper-gilt mounts hinge open to reveal the etui's contents: 2 glass scent bottles, an ivory writing tablet, gilt pencil, needle, folding fruit knife, bodkin and ear-pick. Birmingham C1765.
