Very large miniature of a lady set before a column, facing right, wearing a white dress with blue sash and a white turban on her powdered hair. Watercolour on ivory in the manner of Galloway C1795. Gold frame, the blue glass reverse set with a central glazed panel of white opaline glass with a tree made from hair shading an urn set with seed pearls and the initials 'IHS'. A lady is painted under the tree in monochrome, leaning on the glass, mourning. Provenance: Bonhams London 12/06/1995 Lot 157 (as by Ozias Humphrey).
