Miniature of an surgeon known as William Knight, wearing a blue military coat with red lapels, white sash and gorgette beneath his black stock. Watercolour on ivory, English School C1800. Gold shell frame with glazed plaited hair panel on reverse set with gold initials. NB: William Knight of Folkstone was a surgeon. He died in 1811 at the age of 54 or 55.
