Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette

Very rare enamel patch box, the white-ground base is decorated with flowers and leaves.  The lid has a hand-painted scene of Marie Antoinette clutching her husband, Louis XVI with their son imploring him on his knees, not to leave for the guillotine.  The inscription above reads: 'Louis's last farewel of the Queen'.  Bilston C1789.  Original internal polished steel mirror.
