Light blue Etui

Unusual sky-blue ground enamel etui with bianco-sopra-bianco decoration.  The 2 vignettes front and back are hand-painted with pastoral scenes surrounded by raised gilded borders.  The copper mounts are mercury gilded and the middle hinges open to reveal its contents: gilded folding ruler, combined ear and toothpick, a pencil, folding fruit knife, bodkin,  pencil and ivory writing tablet and a combined steel tweezers and earscoop.  Birmingham C1765.
