Enamel patch box depicting the Young Roscius as Norval C1805

Cobalt blue base eliptical enamel patch box.  The lid with blue and white dot border, has a hand-painted depiction of the child actor, William Henry West Betty, 'The Young Roscius',  playing the part of Norval in the play, Douglas. Bilston C1805.

NB: William Henry West Betty, commonly known as Master Betty or the Young Rocius (1791 - 1874) was a popular child actorof the early nineteenth century.
