Unusual aide memoire, the front has a bevelled oval mirror which is surrounded by a blue-ground enamel decorated with white, black and gold embellishments in the 17th Century style. It is set within silver scalloped-edge mounts and slides open to reveal 2 ivory tablets on which to write and an elasticated silk-lined rear which was possibly used to hold calling cards. A silver pencil hangs from a chain on the suspension loop. Limoges C1870
