Miniature of a gent facing right, with powdered wig en queue, wearing a blue coat with white stock.  Watercolour on ivory by Samuel Shecartouchelley C1800.  Original gold shell frame, the reverse with blue foiled glass encompassing a central cartouche of a sand timer made of seed pearls with plaited hair surround and white enamel border with the words; 'le temps passe mais l'amitie reste' meaning 'time goes on but frienship endures'.
