Real ostrich egg made to form a sewing etui. The central metal mounts hinge open to reveal its contents: thimble, stiletto, scissors, red-leather tooled miniature book dated 1818, bodkin case, pencil, bodkin, ear scoop, thimble holder in the form of a basket, snuff spoon, aide memoire and pin. The lid has an internal mirror and is lined with the original pink sild. French C1818.
