Extremely rare white milch glass scent formed as a clenched hand, the arm part enamelled with yellow, red and blue floral decoration. Original screw-on pewter top. Southern German C1720.
The way the thumb is pushed between the forefinger was believed to avert the evil eye.
A similar example is found in Wellcome Institute of the History of Medicine and the Corning Museum of Glass.
